And I wanted to get to know people, like-minded people with regard to homosexuality. People who were lesbians and with whom you could talk about these things (including my views) without being looked at the wrong way. After all, homosexuality wasn’t talked about at all in the GDR and it wasn’t until the mid-1980s that things thawed out a bit.
