Light Festival 2021 with the “89 Voices” station on the topic of Women 1989
As the perspective of women on 1989 is almost universally underrepresented, Frauenkultur Leipzig, at the request of LTM (Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH) and the 2021 artistic company loomaland.com, jointly prepared and implemented a station of the Festival of Lights on “Women 1989”. The content of this cooperative collaboration was based on many archive texts by Leipzig women* from 1989/1990 (already digitized by Frauenkultur). In a joint workshop (Frauenkultur Leipzig, LTM and Team loomaland), texts were selected that stood in specific contexts. These 89 voices of women were then made visible in large projections and light installations on Richard-Wagner-Platz on October 9, 2021.
In addition, photos of Leipzig’s female* protagonists were projected onto a lime tree at the Höfe am Brühl. These change “in passing”: from portraits from 1989 to portraits in 2021 (of the same person).
